Attractions & Activities
Walk with Lions - For a once in a lifetime experience, indulge yourself in an up close and personal walk with our majestic lions.
The stars of our walk with lions include Dawie, our five-year-old male lion and our three six-year-old lionesses’, Gina, Jana and Jamie.
The walk starts at our Lodge reception, where you will be met by our friendly guides and be given a briefing on the do’s and don’ts whilst enjoying the company of our lions, before you set off on an hour-long walk.
“Education Through Interaction”. You will have the unique opportunity to interact with the lions under supervision of our experienced staff and at the half way point, have both individual and group photo’s, whilst you enjoy a refreshing drink of water, or aromatic cup of coffee before setting off on the second half of the walk.
Included in the package, is our very own photographer, who will document and capture every moment of your experience with the lions for your convenience and memories.
For our clients that are disabled or who would struggle to do the walk, alternative arrangements can be made so you can still be part of this once in a life time experience.
Quad Biking - For an awesome outdoor experience, why not go out on our 10 KM scenic off road quad adventure through the conservancy.
You will get a quick safety brief and quad familiarisation that gives you the chance to get to grips with the controls and get a feel for how they steer and handle. So, by the time you are lining up for the main event you'll feel confident and ready as a competent quadder.
It's time to take on the natural challenges to see if you will be crowned king or queen quad-biker. We’ve even got a video of how a typical quad biking experience unfolds so you know the sort of thing to expect on the day.
The trail contains both dirt road and off road quad tracks through our scenic conservancy, including a ride through our natural quarry to challenge your quad skills and off road capability and along the dam where you have the added advantage of viewing our numerous species of game and bird life.
For an added adventure, why not opt for our night drive, where you will be guided through the conservancy on your quad and your dedicated guide will have a spot light for game viewing. Our night drives often come across the elusive aardvark and witty badgers which are predominantly nocturnal.
Children under the age of 12 can ride with our guide and if your over 12 you can take charge of your very own quad!
Bird Watching - Offering a wide array of habitats including grasslands, wetlands and savannah, the conservancy is home to almost 200 of the 841-bird species found within South Africa which is a true reflection of the unique bio-diversity that the conservancy has on offer.
Spend the day enjoying our spectacular array of birds, whether an avid bird watcher / photographer or just enjoy the company of them.
Horse Riding - A horseback safari is a more intimate experience that allows you to blend in with nature for 2hours. Riders of any level are encouraged to try out the activity while visiting The Ranch Conservancy.
It is the only time you will get as close as 10 meters to a giraffe, zebra, waterbuck or herd of impala, just to mention a few. Times are flexible and bookings can be arranged through the hotel directly.
Guided Walks - Guided bush walks provide for some of the most dramatic activities and sightings of any wildlife experience and there is no better way to learn more about nature than to get up close and personal. Soak in the exquisite scenery and enjoy the sunny climate in this spectacular way to experience wildlife on foot and get closer to nature.
A walking tour through the bush with one of our experienced guides offers guests the opportunity to experience the wilderness from a new and exciting perspective. We all focus on the Big Five but it is just as fascinating to come across some of the little things such as learning about animal spoor, our wide variety of trees and wild flowers as well as our beautiful birds.
These bush walks are safe and you are accompanied by qualified guides who make sure that the hiking trails are safe and informative.
