About Us

Islam Today was launched in Ramadaan 1426 - October 2005. The magazine was received with great enthusiasm since its inception. The first 8 page issue was presented freely to the reader on A4 newsprint. Islam Today grew to twelve pages by the forth issue with a distribution of 10 000. By the fifth issue we had outgrown the A4 newsprint and started publishing in tabloid size, and by the 20th issue we had evolved into a glossy magazine which is our current format. In 2012, we achieved the Diamond Arrow Award, in the new business category.

Our Aim
Islam Today became an instant conversation piece within the Durban Muslim Community. We took the stance to publish articles that portray Islam in its Holistic form and help promote Unity among the Muslim community and our Aim to Inform, Uplift and Unite the Ummah was born.

Our Mission
One of the factors’ that gives Islam Today its popularity is our choice not to cover News, or Islamic Politics but rather instead include subjects that are relevant and uplifting to our community. We've reached a good variety of advertisers who adhere to the ruling of not publishing any photographs with their adverts.
We distribute at month-end a minimum of 10 000 copies of our free A4 community glossy magazine which are distributed in masjids, butchers, bakeries , medical rooms, restaurants, take-aways, service stations and other retail outlets at various malls (including Trade Route, Cresta, Eastgate and the Oriental Plaza) giving you complete coverage of your target market. We intend to increase the distribution of our magazine in the near future, Insha-Allah.

• To create a network of businesses that can benefit from the direct exposure to 10 000 households and businesses every month through our magazine, helping you and your business expand and grow.
• To be a powerful medium that conveys your company, business, service and product message to a wide range of consumers with a readership of over 50,000 individuals.
• To attract businesses with a cost effective and economical approach of reaching your target market, promoting your business, and reinforcing your service offering.

All of the above mentioned, has been done with utmost humility, and in no way gives credit to any one person or persons involved in this publication. All these achievements are by the sheer grace of Allah (SWT) who has guided us in the right direction, and made our task an easy one.
Our fervent prayer is that the people involved in this publication remain steadfast in their belief that our creator is our sole provider, and that nothing happens without his will and command.
