Ubusi Beekeeping (Pty.) Ltd. was registrated in 2012, as a level 4 BEEE company and is one of South Africa leading companies in beekeeping development. The managing director, Jaco Wolfaardt is also the owner of JW’s Beekeeping Honey & Equipment , which is in beefarming, for the last 21 years. He start with 12 hives, as a hobby when he was a student and because of his passion for bees, he expand his operation to a successful commercial beefarming operation with +/- 1800 beehives in production, in the Swellendam and Bredasdorp area. Since 2010, Jaco, used his own resources to travel aboard, to build up connections with suppliers in the beekeeping equipment industry.
Today JW’s Beekeeping Honey & Equipment have two beekeeping equipment shops and other agents, in the Western Cape and is also the sole supplier to all Cape Agri branches in South- Africa and Namibia, which make JW’s Beekeeping Honey & Equipment the largest supplier of the beekeeping equipment, to the South Africa market. They currently supply 13 Cape Agri branches, in the Northern - , Western- and Eastern Cape, with the needed beekeeping equipment to serve the beekeepers in their regions. They recently opened his first honey shop, in Mosselbay,under the new company name, Bee Things. They plan to open three more of these shops in the Western Cape region and 2 in the Eastern Cape.
The company supplied, over the last 3 years , more than 3 million Rand of beekeeping equipment to the South Africa beekeeping industry, this supply of good quality beekeeping equipment ,played a big role in the development of beekeeping in South Africa and especially in the Western Cape, over this time. Yearly Jaco Wolfaardt attends beekeeping Expo’s around the world and conferences, like Apimondia and Api Trade Expo Africa. Again last year he represented the South Africa Beekeeping Industry, at the Apimondia Beekeeping World Congress, in Kyiv, in the Ukraine, which was attended by more than 8500 people form 115 countries worldwide.
Jaco is an ambassador for SABIO – South Africa Beekeeping Industry Organization and for South Africa at these events. Over the past 4 years, Jaco Wolfaardt has established good relationships with suppliers all around the world and excellent export opportunities was created with neighbour Africa countries for beekeeping development. His company import and manufactory beekeeping equipment and wooden beehive components, which they designs to suit the Southern African beekeepers requirements. During these his time spend in the Ukraine, he arrange meetings with the leading suppliers of beekeeping equipment, in the world, to generating new products for the South- Africa beekeepers, as well as importing equipment and supplies to support the growth of the South African Beekeepers and Honey Industry. Meetings are pre-arranged with the President of Thomas Apiculture, of France, one of the most influential beekeepers equipment manufacturers and suppliers in the world.
Ubusi Beekeeping is also a member of Api Trade, a Africa beekeeping development organization, which is involve in beekeeping projects and supporting trade in beekeeping equipment and bee products, like honey and wax. By building up a very good relationship with other leaders in the Africa beekeeping industry, over the past few years, creates new export opportunities, to different Africa countries.
