General information

Lighting Innovations was founded by Bruce Waddell in 1989 in a garage built onto the back of his house in Johannesburg. Never being far away from his humble beginnings the company moved to offices in Wynberg, Sandton and 10 years later as the business developed a move of two kilometers was necessary to accommodate the growth in the company which now employ more than 250 people. Lighting Innovations became the leading manufacturer and supplier of customised lighting solutions in Southern Africa and Branches were opened in all the main centres in South Africa. Investment continued with the building of an 8000sqm state of the art factory in Greenbushes, Port Elizabeth, boasting modern manufacturing equipment, design and test facilities.

In July 2015 a Sale Agreement was signed with the Swedish Lighting Company FAGERHULT to purchase 100% of Lighting Innovations. The transfer took place in November later that year which resulted in a slight change of name to LIGHTING INNOVATIONS AFRICA.
