The Friends of BCA is similar to other Friends organisations throughout South Africa. FoBCA organises outings and events for members and other interested persons. They depend on membership fees to cover the costs of running such an organisation. Members are not only the eyes and ears to warn the managing authorities of activities or threats that could harm the BBNR, but they contribute to the management of the conservation area by joining hack groups, involving schools in educational projects, identifying plant and bird species, advocating the cultural and heritage preservation of the area, etc.
