Through years of manufacturing experience we've tried many substitutes for Meranti, but in our opinion Meranti is still the most suitable for South African conditions, giving your door stability, durability and a longer lifespan. We only use selected kiln dried Meranti imported from Malaysia and Indonesia. There are many species of Meranti from various regions and which species vary in colour and grain. At Cunningham Door Creations we do our best to colour match your door's wood. Since Meranti is a natural product each piece of wood has it's own characteristics (part of the beauty) which makes your door unique. Meranti will vary its colour after treatment and exposure to the elements according to its characteristics.
