Jakaranda and Louis Botha Children's Homes:
Started in 1918, Louis Botha and 1987 Jakaranda Children's Homes are non-profit organizations that look after the welfare of traumatized and abused children. These children are removed from their parents and placed in our care by the South African children's court due to: abandonment, neglect, emotional and physical abuse.
Our primary purpose is to provide the children with clothing, housing, schooling, food, security and stability. In addition, we aim to provide the children with the necessary therapy, life skills and emotional support that they need in order to become responsible adults and curb the cycle of abuse.

Current figures:
The Jakaranda Children's Home is currently looking after 250 children between the ages of 3 and 18 years. Louis Botha Children's Home currently cares for 97 children between the ages of 6 and 18 years. The children are divided into groups of 13; each group living in separate houses under the supervision of house parents.

Cost per Child:
To cover the running costs of the two Children's Homes, the marketing team has to giant task to raise R26 000 000 annually. (The cost of raising a child is roughly R5 500 a month). Only 30% of this amount is subsidised by the government. By supporting the Jakaranda and/or Louis Botha Children’s Homes you will give back to the community supporting an institution that is effectively administered and motivated to help children reach their full potential.

Jakaranda and Louis Botha Children's Homes are one of the forerunners in the field of childcare in South Africa. Many of the programs include a number of professional and support services that also reach out to the community.
