General information

The Performance Matrix is a unique and powerful Movement and Performance Screening System for increasing performance and reducing the risk of injury. The Performance Matrix is the first screening tool to look at low and high threshold movement control using tests that involve multiple joint movements.

The Performance Matrix is a comprehensive assessment tool to identify movement faults (uncontrolled movements). By using it we are more specific in assessing movement faults in functional situations when many joints are working together.

The screening consists of 10 multi-joint movement tests (5 low threshold and 5 high threshold tests). The low threshold tests identify uncontrolled movement relating to non-fatiguing motor co-ordination. The high threshold tests identify uncontrolled movement relating to core strength and limb speed. We record the results of the movement tests on the online system. A unique algorithm produces a report detailing the site of the problem (e.g. hip, low back, upper back, shoulder) , the direction of uncontrolled movement at that site (e.g. flexion, extension, rotation), threshold of uncontrolled movement (threshold is the difference between low level activity and high level activity) and restrictions. It considers the importance of identifying low and high load uncontrolled movements (weak links), which is more than just evaluating strength and weakness. It identifies potential risk factors in the movement system that could lead to injuries, be linked to previous injuries/pain or relationship with performance deficits.

It provides a scoring system that allows comparison and/or re-evaluation as well as a new comparison system. The Performance Matrix is applicable to all active individuals, athletes and sports.
