Mitsubishi Electric – Airconditioning Systems

Effective 1st of August 2001 M.S. Airconditioning Distributors (Pty) Ltd acquired the distribution rights for Mitsubishi Electric air-conditioners within southern Africa, at the time held by M.S.A. Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric (Melco Tokyo Japan) ,as a going concern.

Mitsubishi Electric air conditioners have been supplied and supported within the Southern African market for the past 25 years, together with its sister products namely Switch Gear, Appliances, Home Audio, Lifts and Escalators. During the year of 2000 Melco Japan decided to distribute their range of products through specialised South African based agencies, with relevant hands on experience within each specific industry with focused knowledge and market understanding.

The motivation behind the new shareholders to tender for the Mitsubishi Electric agency was two-pronged. Firstly an opportunity to distribute a well-known brand with a very strong quality reputation and secondly the opportunity to offer service levels unmatched within the Southern African Airconditioning industry, noting that with the commitment and dedication of the entire MSAD staff and strong leadership they will achieve their objectives.

OBJECTIVES
Once the handover phase was concluded M.S. Airconditioning Distributors (Pty) Ltd set concise objectives to ensure continuity of the service delivery, product support and stock availability that was enjoyed by its customer base prior to the transition period. We, therefore, embarked on an extensive stock procurement exercise from both completed goods to spare parts, resulting in an inventory level of around 25 million to 30 million Rand at any given time.

We believe that an important component in providing a high level of service can only be achieved by individuals that have extensive experience in the air conditioning industry either from a technical and or engineering back round facilitated by a professional client service approach. We are very proud of our staff and the large amount of knowledge that is accessible at any time for all aspects of air conditioning applications.

With regard to supporting an already delicate industry, one of the objectives set by M.S. Aircon is to uplift the technical skill within it by implementing training programs that will be sponsored by M.S. Aircon/Mitsubishi focusing on areas in basic refrigeration, compressors replacement procedures, fault finding, services procedures, heat load calculations, troubleshooting and self-diagnostic interpretation. The courses are offered to contractors that are customers of Mitsubishi Electric Airconditioning, as well as developing partnerships with many other capable contracting firms.
