General information

Portage Freight Forwarding cc was established in June 2000 with the sole purpose of servicing clients with a need for sending smaller shipments to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A consolidation service was established utilising both road and rail links to Lubumbashi, Likasi, Kolwezi, Mwene-Ditu and Kananga, but with the demise of the rail structure within the DRC, the road freight division grew constantly until today, where an average of 4 x 34 Ton consolidated loads are leaving South Africa per week.

By establishing firm business relationships with other small/medium like-minded enterprises, we have been able to offer additional services such as the forwarding of goods into/out of Africa by both air and sea freight as well as the clearance of goods transiting through South Africa requiring Road Bonds.

Forwarding of loads to Namibia, Zambia and Burundi have also been very successful and helped in the growth of Portage Freight.

PFF endeavour to offer a full, seamless service from arranging local collection of goods with our own vehicles, receiving goods into our City Deep stores, packing and marking, customs clearance, arranging Bureau Veritas inspections then finally the forwarding to destination.

A small idea has grown into a committed family business with a current staff of 12 dedicated people who have eased the growing pains, and as we leave the first 10 years behind, we look forward to the next 10 in the hope of continued growth and change and establishing of new relationships.
